I think it’s important to make a distinction between listening and physically reading because literacy and the ability to actually read (if one can see) is an important skill that a number Americans have not learned well. All of us on Mastodon obviously do read but we need to remember we are part of a privileged group (in tech ways) and there are many who cannot or do not ever read
