Why are comments showing up in my profile and then not showing up on the post even though it says it has at least 2 comments. All while also not showing up in the modlogs as being removed.

I’ve seen it before but attributed it to instances not being caught up. Are things getting removed and not being shown in the modlogs? When I go from my profile it shows up as a comment in the post. If I go directly to the post, it doesn’t show up. https://lemmy.world/post/8439463 [https://lemmy.world/post/8439463] Edit: I’m thinking of bailing on this instance which really isn’t a big deal, but can anyone suggest a nice instance? I’m having a hard time with the transparency part of this. It has seemed like quirks in the system before, but now I’m wondering if this isn’t the admin that removed the post originally? That was testing the transparency in the first place, but this is getting super sketch. What I really like about this instance and would hope one that is suggested would also have is, that it has a lot of the old place’s kind of content, it seems to handle trolls really well most of the time, and it has thoughtful people contributing.

Make sure you have English checked along with Undetermined in your language settings.

Both are checked. I should add that when I first went to the comment section, it showed up as -2 for the comments but nothing in the modlog saying they were removed.

It was originally an admin that removed the original text, so it seems a bit sketch. You can see the conversation in my profile but it doesn’t show up at all in the original file. I’ve moved to sh.it.justworks because I’m getting reddit vibes, I just wanted to check back in to see if you guys could figure it out and I was wrong about things. I’ll check back in a few days a final time.

To be sure, you have 2.270 comments, what comments you mean? and the comments can just be from blocked users, or from a language you dont have.

Okay, let’s do this then, I’ll post the entire thing. I’m going to be clear, there is some fuckery going on on your side, don’t take it out on me. I have been very patient and I don’t care about switching instances. I really liked it here so I didn’t want to move, I know you guys don’t care if I leave or not. I thought you could see all of the modlogs behind the scenes because it isn’t showing on my side when I know and have verified all actions. Also, that there might be a rogue admin since it was an admin that originally removed my first comment (which I let go btw, I seriously don’t care now).

I dont know if that could be a issue, because “ubermeisters” had deleted their account and it is know to cause issues on comments. I think this could be your issue there. We cant fix that or we would break federation.

I’m going to respond from my other account. The only issue I have with this answer is that it was doing that before ubermeisters deleted their account. When I first found the issue, their posts were showing up when I hit context, but also not showing up in the main thread and modlogs as being deleted. I guess it could have had a delay or something, idk.

Regardless, thanks for checking, I’ll just stay over here at my other account.
