Buried in here is a key point: The amount of electricity needed to run carbon capture operations (especially DAC, given the vast amount of air that needs to be pulled through the machines) We need to deploy renwables + storage AND support electrification of buildings and transportation as quickly as possible.

One of the reasons why I'm pessimistic about mankind is the blatant refusal to learn.

If anything, everybody should have learned by now to challenge those promoting tech "solutions" with these two questions:
How much energy is required?
How do you ensure the energy comes from renewables only?

And don't allow them to blabber vague BS in response. Force them to be specific.
