FAKE LOVE was the very first piano cover i uploaded to soundcloud on 3 dec 22 - just over a year ago. it never gained any sort of traction until 364 days later, when someone in vietnam played it 32 times on 2 dec 23. (the track has only been played a total of 77 times.)
recording and uploading covers of bts songs has been a touching experience. most of my listeners are unknown to me, but sometimes they are so taken by a cover they listen to it non-stop, or keep coming back to it.
it gives me a tiny glimpse into understanding that music is really universal - as is the enjoyment of it, the passion for it, that makes people feel crazy over it. it lets me feel just a little of what must have awed the boys along the way - the realising that everywhere, in the tiniest corners of the world, there is someone listening to what they make. that little strand of connection is so remarkable and makes the vast world suddenly feel very personal.
