Learning 3D in the last year-ish has brought so much joy for me. There’s so many interesting sub-fields to get into and learn about, and it brings the same “holy shit I can’t believe I made this” feeling that I had when I first started design. It’s also been really fun to see how I can integrate 3D into my product design work to make things more interesting. Highly recommend more designers give it a try.
It was one of these things that I started learning for fun and then all of a sudden started seeing a ton of problems where 3D could help. It’s a surprisingly useful skill!
I’m not even particularly great at it, but that’s part of what makes it fun for me! Every project requires learning a new technique, a new approach.
Also, Blender is probably one of the hardest pieces of software to learn… and one of the best pieces of software ever created. Once you learn the shortcuts you can become so productive with it.
@kevin Any particular examples that you can share? Curious how other (mostly 2D designers) found uses for it
