got a new TV all set up this evening. Jumped from a 32 inch to a 48 inch. Now watching "Slow Horses" 😎 Bit of a learning curve but so far so good. Over the weekend I'll be fiddling with options and programing and remotes etc. but for now all is good to go for the basics. An RCA to HDMI adapter is now on the way for the old DVD Player. #FunWithTech
@lakelady I’m hopelessly attached to a circa 2003 48” professional plasma monitor so I know adaptors. Tip: if your new tv has a digital audio input, and so does your vcr, use that instead of porting the audio from the (white) RCA and you should get Dolby 5.1 to your tv, if it has that capability.
I have a separate audio amplifier so I run the optical output of my cable box to that and 5.1 makes football and F1 phenomenal.
@Joe_Hill I don't have a fancy sound setup for the TV, just a simple sound bar using optical audio out. There's no RCA inputs on the TV, which is what the DVD player has so I'm getting a little box that will convert to HDMI for that (instead of a new player). Need to figure out how to get new TV "magic" remote to be a remote for multiple devices. It's supposedly possible. We'll see . . . #FunWithTech
