@houstonpublicmedia We didn’t realize that the state of Texas employs teachers. We’ve always thought that the respective independent school districts employ (and pay) teachers.

@magic_hat public school districts are founded under the auspices of the state of Texas and funded by tax dollars, so while they are hired and employed by the individual school districts, teachers are ultimately state employees
