The graphics card in my PC was made in that brief period of time when people thought DisplayPort was going to take over from HDMI. I've nothing particularly against it except the name, because if you go into the shop and ask for an HDMI-DisplayPort adapter, and the person doesn't know about it, you sound like you don't know what you're talking about.
The amount of times I heard "What kind of display port? USB-C?"
@Herby While I get your point, DisplayPort is pretty much the standard for office computers. Dockingstations from both Dell and HP usually have at most one HDMI-Port but have 2 DisplayPort connectors. The last 3 companies I worked (and am working) at all use exclusively DisplayPort. From what I understand, HDMI is pretty much only in use for home entertainment anymore, like beamers and TVs. At least over here in Switzerland.
@LordDodo I spent a Sunday going to every PC or vaguely tech related store that was open in Nottingham a week ago, and only one person even knew what it was, no-one sold it. And my gripe is just with the generic-sounding name, it's poor branding.
@LordDodo Though now you mention it, both my current and last office used DisplayPort for their pcs.

@Herby Very interesting. I didn't know this was a regional thing.

And I fully agree with you on the name. It's a bit less of a problem in Switzerland because English isn't the main language spoken so our association doesn't go to the generic meaning first but it still exists.

@LordDodo It might not have been an issue in a major city, and the one serious computer repair place here is closed on Sundays. But you would have thought Curry's (the only national consumer tech retailer left in the UK) would sell it!
