Things I wish the #fediverse had already:

1) A #wattpad replacement
2) A #patreon replacement (UPDATE: liberapay is an alternative with ability to link with social media accounts. Not federated. I misunderstood that part.)
3) A fediverse marketplace to replace #amazon and #ebay
4) A scholarly/academic publishing app

@tullycraft
Fediverse doesn't yet have a federated patreon alt but liberapay exists as an alt
@tullycraft
I didn't knew that #liberapay was #federated!

@paoloredaelli You can connect your social media accounts to librepay:

https://en.liberapay.com/explore/elsewhere

Not sure if that qualifies as federated exactly, but it makes it possible to explore one's fediverse contacts' liberapay accounts. It's not limited to fediverse. You can link other other social media accounts like YouTube and Twitter.

@tullycraft Finally another person that also wants a fediverse wattpad.
@tullycraft Question, what would the culture be like on it? One reason I started posting there less and less, is Wattpad comes across like Twitter for Fanfiction writers.
@LWFlouisa I was thinking of something less fan-fiction focused and more on original fiction. Maybe with a tie in to some patreon-style fediverse app so writers could earn money from their writing without having to give up too many rights over their own work and not having to give up too much of their earnings to a middleman.
@LWFlouisa I'm fuzzy on the details, but that's my style. I discovered some new stuff on Amazon a while back from people doing self-published e-books. And I thought it was really sad that they had to give up so much to Amazon. I think the Fediverse could provide an alternative way for writers to find readers. I like find new things via other ordinary people recommending it to me than rather than Amazon or Google pushing an ad at me based on my previous interests.
