š³ļøāššš½When Hillary Clinton called MAGA supporters ādeplorables,ā it was in the news forever. We still talk about it today. But when Trump called his political enemies āvermināāactually invoking the words of Adolf Hitlerāthe press just moves on like itās nothing. They are failing us.
Phillip Winn@georgetakei Trumpās rhetoric is abysmal, but I donāt think thereās necessarily a double standard by the media here. Clinton described voters, āsome of whom,ā she said were āa basket of deplorables.ā People immediately (deliberately) pretended she said ALL Trump supporters were deplorables, and complained so much the media naturally amplified the complaints.
Trumpās use of āverminā is worse! But heās not describing everyday voters, because he claims all regular people support him. It would be up to his political opponents to make a big deal of being called vermin, and for various reasons, they arenāt.
The media is many things, but chief among them is lazy. Trump spoon-feeds lazy media what they then regurgitate, and the rest of us expect the media to actually work, but they donāt.
