Listening to the old dudes on the Alaska Morning Net talk about their mysterious "flu" and suggesting they should get a refund on their flu shot and ... I just can't. It's COVID, guys.

And their friend who's in the hospital for a low O2 saturation and they have no idea what's wrong with him... it's COVID, guys.

@ellenor2000 A "net" is a fairly structured way of facilitating conversation and coordinating radio traffic. It wouldn't be within etiquette to bust in without first checking in and then being acknowledged by the net controller.

This net happens multiple times a week so I plan to check in next time and wish well to everyone who's recovering from COVID. Passive aggression at its best. :)

So this morning I was listening to this net while working and decided to take a few minutes to check in. I wished all the folks who "sound like they're sick with or recovering from COVID a swift and strong recovery."

I also shared my pronouns, which they totally bungled in the notes which is, like, maximum #HamRadio

I also asked all the folks complaining about young whippersnappers using software to do #MorseCode to consider how the apps improve the accessibility of the hobby and how much kindness it would show to cut them some slack.

@julie for all the of the crotchety, "get off of my lawn" types you'll also find the fantastic Elmer's and those just plain nice to QSO with. The crew in my old club was always ready to help new folks along.

I've seen some of your posts and I'm sure you get it. In fact, given you run a net I expect you're one of the latter. This was just an opportunity for me to remind myself and others to not to take the cranky folks too seriously.
