@scott [ ] what is this "rain" you speak of
@luis_in_brief were you not in San Francisco this February??
@scott Unfortunately, very much so, as my leaks, my handyman, my new walls, and my bank account will all attest to :(
@luis_in_brief oh no! That bad, huh
@scott Literally woke up one morning to “Luis, I have bad news” from my spouse, the bad news being that there was a balloon of leaking water forming in the latex paint immediately above our bed, big enough that it was the first thing she noticed when the alarm went off
@scott heavy prolonged rain maybe, depends on the ride

@scott

I really really want to be a "No amount of rain---just get rain gear!" person, but I can't quite feel right about that, especially not knowing things like temperature and wind. I put "Heavy rain" but maybe the better answer is "it depends on who is in the group."

@scott

Historically there have been two main weather conditions that induce me to get off my bicycle and walk: 1) wind strong enough to blow me into traffic or off the road, 2) this horrible sleet accumulation we had one time that produce piles of stuff that looked like snow but was slicker than ice.

@scott depends on the ride. If it’s a special ride and you want to maximize participation (something like the ride of silence) I would postpone based on any amount of rain. If it’s a weekly or monthly ride I would only cancel if there’s heavy rain.
@scott for what it’s worth, the Kidical Mass I ran in March was on a rainy day and we debated canceling, but went ahead with it. Over 100 attendees showed and hung out in the rain for almost an hour after the ride!
