I may haver never mentioned it here, but I have been playing with a firefish fork for the last few weeks, trying to make a fediverse-based tumblr-like site.

A lot of the UI and data model changes I wanted to make are already there, and now I'm entering the "I need to actually make my server federate with other servers" and the feeling is [dog-jpg-I-have-no-idea-of-what-i'm-doing]

@_jv_ What is this fork called?
@_jv_ is it going to be able to do reblog chains?
<p> maaaaaaaaaaybe ;P (yes)<br></p>
@javi how will that look to mastodon users?

@Magess not so god... this [screencap A] looks like this [screencap b]. But that's not a lot it could be done to improve it, at the end of the day if mastodon allowed that I wouldn't need to work on a new project. Goblin-local reblogs or goblin-to-goblin would work similar to tumblr.

Also, the html in the text... mastodon just allows naked text, and well, that's not enough for what we need on a tumblr-like site. Maybe at some point I may try to strip the html when sneding content to mastodon

@_jv_ I know glitch-soc adds some text styling. Maybe the masto main branch will pick it up someday...
@_jv_ @Magess Masto not doing QRT and not having any styling is just sad. Some of the reasons I like other AP servers more than masto... unfortunately so many popular instances are masto.
@_jv_ really wish I had hosting now, but no money...
