X/Twitter is such a curious failure.

Tried a monitoring account once again. No significant interaction but there to follow news and cyber. After thirty days the slew of absolute junk ads began: Chinese garbage Christmas toys. Knock-off mens clothing. Falun Gong "China Culture" ads. Nonstop Epoch Times conspiracy nonsense.

Against my better instincts I started muting and then blocking on Friday. Blocked about 40 accounts and...

PERMANENT SUSPENSION

No notice. No warning. No appeals accepted. No violation of Terms of Service. Musk insists you must watch his garbage accounts. Given who he has left advertising, the platform isn't long for this world.

@jamiesaker
You were banned because of blocking accounts ?

@neirda Sadly yes. I read of people blocking thousands without consequence but let's just say the experiment was replicated this time (with credentials to ensure there were no connections between a prior account banned for the same behavior and this one).

That Musk would cram irrelevant, undesired ads onto people and charge the sponsor for eyeballs the message fails with is hilariously poor marketing methods. The prior account's last block and instant suspension was on a Hawaii public utility ad - we're in Iowa. This one was some Chinese Christmas junk toy advertising "you'll be the best grandparent with this holiday toy."

Elon must be desperate for cash.
