How can young people make change? How can we transform their energy and aspirations into tangible actions? Today's #MunicipalistMonday tackles these questions – looking at Youthstok, a program developed by SocLab (Białystok, Poland) and supported by EMN. #emnAwardedProject
Youthstok - Białystok's Youth Initiatives Incubator – aimed to provide younger people with essential tools and mechanisms to voice their needs and ideas, engage in decision-making processes, tackle local issues, and develop new competencies.
On 1 April 2023, seven projects entered the day-long Hackothon. Here each project received mentoring on how to realise their youth projects with support from the city council. Three projects were also selected to be developed with SocLab's support between April and June.
#1 BOjestOK Team
The ‘’BOARD-GAME-MANIA’’ initiative, developed by the youth team called BOjestOK, aimed at addressing the need for a space where young people in the city can meet, interact, and develop meaningful relationships.
#2 EKOnówki Team -
DIY and upcycling workshops were born out of the determination of a group of five girls who were deeply concerned about the detrimental impact of the fashion industry on the environment.
#3 Neofici Team
A dedicated team of three individuals came together to create a podcast called "Let's Talk About..." with the aim of raising awareness and educating young listeners about mental health, anxiety, depression, and the challenges faced by young people
As SocLab concludes: "By creating inclusive platforms, developing innovative engagement methods, and providing support tailored to their circumstances, we can empower the youth to actively contribute to the betterment of our community."
