@goerz @alireza Is that state of "not maintaining" temporary or for ever? The broken web interface does not even allow me to export my data... On the other hand, people keep posting on this instance. Mathstodon has been my prospective server for being able to render latex code but the scope of qubit-social is closer to me. ☹️
@flyingphysicist I have no inside information, so no idea. The server has been offline before and come back within a few days. So my guess would be that the web interface might be back at some point. But the server hasn’t been updated in a long time and @alireza hasn’t been responsive for months. I would get off as soon as you’re able to export your data.
Alireza Yazdi@goerz @flyingphysicist the server will be shut down soon. I have posted some updates on Twitter. We are working on restoring the web interface so people can migrate their accounts.

@dooms @alireza @flyingphysicist Yeah, the whole “Quantum Twitter is just fine” is pretty off-putting. In theory, it would be nice to ensure that at least the automatic forwarding for anyone migrating would continue to work for a couple of years.
@goerz @dooms @flyingphysicist my plan for the time being is to keep the server alive for a couple of month to allow people to migrate their profiles and content.
@goerz i’m not sure why you found my comment off putting. Mastodon is not a “product” which can be counted on for high reliability and security. We need to have at least a couple of people working full time to maintain a server and moderate the comments. I don’t find that practical.

What is the status here? I am trying to migrate for months, but the webinterface is down. @alireza Please communicate concrete plans in Mastodon. That would help people decide if they should wait or just set up a new account somewhere else while losing all their data (which would be very disappointing!).

@dooms @tobsto @alireza @flyingphysicist Not letting people do a clean migration is pretty shitty, though. I was lucky that I moved several months before @alireza simply abandoned the instance in a broken state.

I have spent tens of hours trying to restore the server over the past few month. I did my best to keep people informed of the situation. I have not intention of « not letting people do clean migration ». Why would I do such thing?
I’ve spent hundreds of dollars out of my pocket trying to keep the server live for people to access their previous posts and info.
