Many people like to defend Steve Ballmer when charts like this show up or give him credit for Satya’s success but they’re generally wrongheaded responses.

Ballmer had some major wins especially in creating an enterprise software cash machine with Windows Server, Exchange, Sharepoint, etc. But he also had a huge misses like Zune, Windows Phone, Nokia, aQuantive, Bing, etc. They canceled each out.
