The Originalist case for brazen corruption
@scottjshapiro Is that Ken burns in the middle?
@daysonrick @scottjshapiro That is Ken Burns in the middle, at least until the fiddle music starts playing and the photo pans over to center on Thomas.

@daysonrick @scottjshapiro
Sure is. Here is a link to an article that identifies him: https://www.propublica.org/article/clarence-thomas-secretly-attended-koch-brothers-donor-events-scotus?utm_medium=social&utm_source=mastodon&utm_campaign=mastodon-post

Apparently he was there because Koch financially supports his documentaries.

Clarence Thomas Secretly Participated in Koch Network Donor Events

Thomas has attended at least two Koch donor summits, putting him in the extraordinary position of having helped a political network that has brought multiple cases before the Supreme Court.

Something that is "deeply rooted in the Nation’s history and traditions.”

@scottjshapiro Guy in the background is all of us. "This doesn't seem legit, but nobody's saying anything."

@scottjshapiro I don’t see what’s corrupt- it’s just him paying back the people who give him money for ruling on cases the way they like by showing up and helping them raise money so they can fund the cases they want to bring to the Supreme Court so he can rule on more cases and get some more free stuff.
@scottjshapiro One of these things is not like the other.
@scottjshapiro Looking forward to Ken Burns “The Court” with lots of old-timey banjo music over every black and white panning still of “Ol’ Clarence.”

@scottjshapiro

My useless senators, both Dems are busy weighing in on Fetterman's sweatshirts. Maybe If a bunch of people complain they will gin up a Sternly Worded Letter™

@scottjshapiro It doesn't say anything in the Constitution about taking money for verdicts. So, like, checkmate, bro!
