To get this straight, we CAN’T afford:
- universal healthcare
- affordable housing
- student loan forgiveness
- or anything else to help working people struggling to get by.

But the Pentagon can take $3.8 trillion and not be able to say what they did with it. Okay. https://www.stripes.com/theaters/us/2023-11-15/pentagon-failed-audit-shutdown-funding-12064619.html

‘This was not a surprise’: Pentagon again fails annual audit of $3.8 trillion in military assets

The Pentagon has again failed its independent annual audit, mainly because defense officials could not provide auditors with enough information to form a full accounting evaluation, according to the Defense Department’s yearly financial report released Wednesday.

@WorkingFamilies It is *exremely* unlikely they can't actually account for most of that money. The issue is they can't account for it in a way that, if made public, wouldn't cause *incredible* outrage and blowback against the leadership personally, the Pentagon as a whole and even the military as an institution.

@WorkingFamilies Some of it is outright theft/fraud. Some of it is probably obscene payoffs to allies and foes. Add in a bunch of Mk_Ultra type shit, training and arming most of the world's worst terrorists, various black ops and mercenary sketchiness...

If they could honestly account for all that shit, bet there's probably only a few $100 million in actual funds they can't account for. A rounding error in their overall budgeting!
