And the winner of the Dutch election is... The Dutch Media. They've spent decades hyping up every right wing racist party, allowing them to say the most outrageous things without any fact checking at all. The public has now given the most votes to a racist linked to Putin. I'm ashamed.

@hembrow Less than 25% of the total vote, but still, highly embarrassing for the country that this has proved possible.
@villavelius Indeed. I don't see how any other party can actually work with Wilders as premier. He's obviously a walking disaster zone. So hopefully we'll end up with a coalition consisting of more level heads, excluding pvv.
@hembrow In a situation like this, the notion of equating democracy with elections needs re-evaluating.

@villavelius Political jury duty is definitely something I've been thinking of as an anti-dote to this marketing driven election cycle. I just don't think people are going to want it.

Anyway, Maurice de Hond is the architect behind the PVV's victory.
Further, Omtzigt now holds the key for a far right coalition if he is willing or not.

@tesmaia People probably don't want it, I agree. It may have to do with something that has been called the 'ignorance bias'. When it comes to elections, the idea that the gut is the second brain is highly plausible. And that second brain guides voting behaviour in large parts of the electorate, it seems.
