I've noticed that conservatives have memory-holed the simple fact that the "lockdowns" (they weren't even real lockdowns more like strong advice from the government to stay home) began under Trump.

They talk about that period before the vaccines started coming out like Biden did it all. Or Obama ... it's very ... odd.

@futurebird they just make up bullshit to rant about to each other.
@futurebird Same here in Argentina.
They say "70 years of peronism bring us down" but 50 of those 70 were not peronism. And the economic crisis was caused almost always by non peronist administrations.
Now they say "20 years of kirchnerism", but it was the neoliberal Macri who broke us.
They key is that the media and the rightwing are partners.

@futurebird Not to mention that the lockdowns, such as they were, were entirely voluntary.

Individuals, companies, and organizations choosing not to expose themselves to a deadly disease with no effective treatments is cast by Republican loons as the worst oppression on American soil since Reconstruction.

@futurebird that was Fauci and the deep state to them. Don't look for consistency in it, but that's what they would say.
@futurebird I remember hearing gas prices blamed on “Biden’s new socialist economy”… immediately after the election, while Trump was still in office.
@futurebird My hypothesis: COVID hit blue states first (WA was US's ground zero), and mitigation measures were first implemented by Dem governors & mayors. In conservatives' minds, that cemented COVID as a liberal panic and COVID restrictions as liberal overreactions. That it ties into the conservative narrative of Dems as the big government party didn't help matters.
