I really hate when companies don't allow existing subscribers to take advantage of an offer.

I'm looking at you, Skillshare.

I am surprised they get any new customers at all as they make it impossible to find out how much a premium membership costs without signing up for an account.

#skillshare

Did a bit of delving.

If I let my current #skillshare subscription renew it will cost me CAD $215 for the year.

If I create a new account and buy a year's subscription it will cost CAD $129 for the year.

If I create a new account and buy a year's subscription with the Black Friday 50% offer it will cost CAD $64.50 for the year.

My course of action is pretty clear. Cancel and new account it is.

@WeeGem I feel a law that says companies have to make all deals available to all subscribers for this and things like internet/cell phones would shake up the market. Companies would still offer deals because they would still want to poach customers but everyone could benefit from them.
@declanflynn I would welcome such a law.
Although it might mean higher prices if the income from the existing customer base is bankrolling the discounts given to new customers.
But it would be more transparent for customers.
