Happy Birthday to the intergalactic maestro Dr. John. On the one hand I miss him, but on the other he's everywhere.

@kbeninato

His song ‘Walk on Gilded Splinters’ which I first heard in 1967 became the first song I sang after years of not being able to when finally taken to hospital.Two verses were just the words I needed. I found out Gilded or ‘Golden’ splinters are places on Earth where planetary energy focuses. Alas that is too vague to know where those places are. It can also be used as a blessing. I babbled all this out to the black man who was emptying my trash. He was from NOLA; what are the odds?

@kbeninato I listened to that new solo record from Tipitinas 1984 this weekend and it was such a great time.

@kbeninato

His debut album blew my teenage mind in ‘67.

Fifty-six years later, it still does.

@kbeninato
You're really fortunate! As are we all, for what he gave us.

Whenever I hear "intergalactic" attached to music, I smile and think about the Sun Ra Arkestra 😀 https://www.sunraarkestra.com/1-main.html

@kbeninato @GreatDismal I feel fortunate to have gotten to see Dr. John at SXSW here in Austin, back in 2012. It was a great show and an opportunity I'm glad I didn't miss.
