Apple's head of security speaks out against iPhone app sideloading in new interview - 9to5Mac

A new report from The Independent this weekend offers an interesting look at why and how Apple is “working hard...

9to5Mac
@9to5Mac guess what, you’ll be forced to enable it regardless
@9to5Mac Does side loading mean we code get apps that allow node js compilers? I’d love to develop on my iPad but it just isn’t possible.

@9to5Mac well sure, it’s gonna be there as an option for whoever wants to do it, which is good.

The thing is, when you have monopoly on certain area it’s just a matter of time until you get totalitarian — happens every time; perhaps it’ll be better this way, who knows

@9to5Mac the playing field has been tilted in Apple’s favor for a long time. I’m glad they are being forced to play fair. Adding USB-C, RCS and now sideloading. They are losing MFI royalties from lightning accessories certification, loosing iMessage exclusivity, and possibly the massive 30% cut from devs. This is a good year.

@9to5Mac I mean this is a fight they’ve lost. It’s happening in the EU and it’ll eventually happen here.

They should really just stop trying to delay the inevitable.
