@Popehat @Pope and the effective response. Ken, I’ve read you for years and listen to the podcast, but honestly you seem totally blind to how this comes across. Yes, Mastodon is different. Has a different ethos. And you’ve just told all of us Jack Dorcy, of no content moderation, of selling Twitter to Elon, is where you’d rather be.
So? Stop whining and Go. We will survive.
@matt @MiriShuli @Pope A careful — or honest — reader would see that didn’t say I was not coming back, but that I didn’t post or monitor much.
But that’s the precise sort of smug but clueless scoldiness that’s part of the ethos here I find unpleasant. My role is to sit respectfully while insufferable bien-pensants instruct me? No thank you.
@Popehat @MiriShuli @Pope “Others’” in this context was the person you reposted above. I already said it’s fine that you don’t like the type of criticism you get here.
And yes, you’re handling that criticism the way you want. And I’m telling you that your method makes you look foolish (which has nothing to do with how *I* feel entitled to be handled, whatever you think that means) and suggesting you commit to the method you already mentioned.
