I often hear that people don't believe in abortion. Same thing. It's a procedure. What they mean is that they believe that others/anyone shouldn't have an abortion.
Similarly, they believe that your concern will prevent them from selling more fossil fuels and reduce their profits

"Believing in" evolution or climate change or the Apollo program is like believing in light bulbs.
It shows a basic misunderstanding of what you're dealing with.
