Ars Technica
@arstechnica wow that means that #nothingtech approach for nothing chat works? Nice
@Gemboj @arstechnica I believe that Nothing is using a bank of Mac Minis in a data center to achieve what they are doing. This would be a step in eliminating that need.
@canux @arstechnica exactly, but I think that because they did it, apple must react. And they react in a good way, instead of block it somehow
@arstechnica About damn time. I expect they finally saw the amount of pressure (like USB-C) and decided to maintain some appearance of goodwill by appearing to do it on their own. I also expect that it will continue to color them differently and there will be "unfortunate" interop problems or missing features to some degree. Still, it's progress!
@lothus That's what I thought. They will comply with RCS but there's always going to be caveats. The interoperability won't be as smooth. But yea, progress (reluctantly)
@arstechnica Did hell freeze over somewhat?
@arstechnica It's dead on arrival. At least in Europe no one cares about these RCS. Everyone uses What's App or Telegram or whatever messenger. Basically, What's App and alternative messengers gained popularity because SMS were never free here.
@arstechnica Revision Control System? Well, I guess that could be handy on messaging systems where people can edit messages.
@arstechnica you can bet your ass those bubbles will still be green and Apple will do everything it can to continue setting them up for failure against iMessage

@arstechnica

Now if only RCS worked reliably on Android we'd be getting somewhere.

@arstechnica delivery reports for SMS have existed since 2000 at least.
