It's something how willfully thickheaded @NateSilver538 is about how the Boebert thing is about a hypocrite pushing a moral panic about #LGBTQ+ folks living under life-threatening attacks, and the Fetterman thing is about... sweatpants. What was it Nate was allegedly good at?

@stevesilberman

Nate Silver's deficiencies in social perception served one good thing.

He was paid by Republicans to show electoral maps where women couldn't vote and ones where only men voted.

It revealed how serious billionaire donors like Uihlein and Yass are about disenfranchising women to the same degree that they disenfranchised black and brown voters.

FiveThirtyEight US election maps for if only men or only women voted

"But it seems fair to say that, if Trump loses the election, it will be because women voted against him," Nate Silver said.

@Npars01 @stevesilberman I love all of this, and the Nate shade is totally warranted. That said, I do believe there is value in polls, especially now that he is gone. At its core, 538 is data driven journalism that aggregates polls. They have some really smart people working there who don't have an agenda. I always tend to give those people the benefit of the doubt.

@ToSkinADonkey @stevesilberman

Follow the money.

If you're being paid by Republican billionaire donors, you may be well-intentioned but your ability to stay employed & pay your mortgage depends on doing the work they hire you to do & do it the way they want it done.

538 was paid to data model a democracy where women can't vote.

No amount of professional integrity can counter that fact.

@Npars01 @stevesilberman for Nate, Gonna argue on behalf of narcissism and ego vs. pay to play. Could be a simple difference of opinion, but the best part is, if you think he's an asshole for one reason, and I think he's an asshole for another... we can both agree he's an asshole!
@Npars01 @stevesilberman fwiw I was a regular listener to the 538 politics podcast until Nate pretended like he was an expert in epidemiology during covid. He was always a contrarian, but always in his lane. But the dude went off the rails when covid hit. I'm sure it was mostly his own isolation, and him generally just being the lonely asshole that is Nate Silver, but the podcast was unlistenable for a time. It's better now that he's gone. Now, if we could just get him to delete his Twitter acct
