Wow, I hadn't seen this Flickr Commons project before (@flickrfdn). I have relied on Flickr a lot in serializing my Web 2.0 memoir — so many great memories were put onto #Flickr back in the 2000s. So I'm pleased they have launched a Commons. -> "Imagine if we could place ourselves 100 years from now and still have access to photos shared by millions of people on Flickr…" https://www.flickr.org/

@ricmac @flickrfdn they will get my respect the day they make Game Neverending available again.

Just kidding, this is a fantastic resource, very happy to hear of it.

#GNE

@jaz @flickrfdn Ha, touché!

@ricmac @jaz We also miss GNE!

Flickr Commons has been around for nearly 15 years. Now it has a sustainability plan, dedicated staff, its own 501(c)(3) (US non-profit designation) and a bunch of neat stuff going on. Please make use of all the no-known-copyright-restrictions images however you want to. We're definitely sharing this link with the team.

Flickr Before Smartphones and Instagram

What was it like using Flickr in early Web 2.0, in the age of digital cameras and before Instagram changed everything? 📸

@flickrfdn @jaz Thanks for sharing that post :) And my apologies, I didn't realize the Commons was that long-standing! But I'm pleased to (re)discover it now.
