Sounds like a “great” idea: build a reservoir in the Sacramento Valley so that during the hot summer, most of the “extra” water can evaporate instead of letting it fill the Yolo Bypass, support salmon and other fish populations, and soak into the ground and recharge the water table.

California’s state government began drawing up plans for Sites Reservoir in the Sacramento Valley 70 years ago. And it still only exists on paper. So, kudos to Gov. Gavin Newsom for deciding that it’s finally time to put this tardy project on the fast track.
