Such a sick photo
It really is! So happy to have such a high quality photo of this armor now!
Could put that on a resume for a prop designer
I hope you wear this to DnD sessions.
Wish I could! Unfortunately I don’t have a group. Even if I did, I don’t have a ton of time to commit to it :(
The health potion made me think it’s a D&D cleric, but D&D doesn’t have a mana concept, so the blue potion has me confused. It doesn’t seem like a WoW outfit, but that’s what I would associate mana potions with. Whatever it is, it looks bad ass!
This outfit is heavily inspired by Elden Ring. It’s the Tarnished version of my character Astor.
Awesome! 8 haven’t played that game yet. How did you get the liquid to be so opaque? My wife made some potions for a costume once, but they were a lot more translucent than yours. Is the armor real metal armor, or is this 3d printed? It looks amazing!

The potions are “water” with food dye and food safe glitter. They are really shimmery and really sell the potion illusion.

The armor is metal! I painted and weathered it.

You did an amazing job.

Thank you! Here’s some progress pics of 2 of my helmets.

Super cool! The pointy topped helm looks way better. Great choice going with that one. How did you build those? Do you have a blacksmithing station at home? A forge?

So the pointy helm is what is called a Bascinet. They come in a bunch of different variations. The one i have is referred to as a Wenzel Bascinet due to its depiction in the 15th century Wenzel Bible.

I did not make them unfortunately, but I did paint and weather them. The bascinet was completely unwearable and inhisthoric. I had to do a lot of work to it to make it wearable. If you check my comment history, you can pribably find the wall of text in which I describe everything I had to do lol.

Also, the helm with the flat top, typically referred to as a Crusader Helm, is a “Great Helm” I wear that one for my crusader armor which is a very anachronistic 12th/13th century setup.

That’s so cool. Thank you for sharing. The end result is amazing.
Ah yes, the only 2 pieces of medieval fantasy media in existence: DnD and WoW
Me getting ready to head into the work office. Jokes aside, what an awesome costume and design
Thanks so much! Really happy with it!
Great costume, beautifully photographed, love it!
Bro is using that black mist filter.

I’ll just come out and say it: The photo isn’t that good.
The building on the left is such a strong contrast in color and shape, it immediately draws the eye away from the main subject.
And as soon as you notice the potions, you’re immediately drawn away to the people in the background, cause human brains are wired to always notice faces, even blurry ones. And those people are wearing modern clothes, which ruins all the context, turning the imposing knight into a dude in costume.

The photo would be much better if the building and the blurry people either weren’t there, or were made part of the photo’s subject. And a good photographer would recognize that in a staged photo like this.

Nice armor though!

It was a photo of opportunity at a very large, sold out renaissance festival. The fact that there are only 2 people in the background is a miracle. Cool your boots buddy.

It’s not really necessary to criticize when they just wanted to share a picture of themselves they enjoyed.

The photo was successful if it made the OP happy after their hard work on the costume.

Cool picture.

FYI Lemmy is starting to hug of death his poor site lol.

What magic do you do?
Some basic incantations, maybe a couple defensive carian spells.

Dude, super happy that you find so much joy in that picture, it’s great seeing someone enjoying their hobbies and interests.

I feel no one has pointed out what makes the armor work, i. e. the rough, heavy cloth, really makes it look medieval - at least it’s the combination of that cloth and the leather that sells it for me.

May I ask what fabric you used? Some raw cotton or linen?

So the course basket weave fabric is actually my hood which is a modified kylo ren hood I bought back in 2016. I just looked and the shop no longer sells it.

I don’t know you! That’s my purse!
That’s pretty wicked!
What’s the story with the colored material in the corked bottles?

They are “potions” red for health, blue for mana.

They are also sneaky sneaky way to smuggle in “Water”.

got it! thanks for the explanation.
That was a really nice touch
