@arstechnica Just wait until the EU hears about this

@arstechnica

I had to sharply disconnect my cell phone from my car, because when traveling ~six months, at AirBnBs/VRBO the car was so close to the lodging the cell would not work separately from the car.

So I don't link through my car for anything. Minor inconvenience, but lock down everything. (No, I don't use Alexa, either....)

@arstechnica all this noise for what appears to be the infotainment unit caching the messages for display πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
@arstechnica As much as I would like to stick it to big automakers, you have to clarify that the cars don't share these text messages with anyone. It is just a local cache of messages to display on your screen.
@arstechnica newfound respect for the Spotify Thing. it was basically a touchscreen that had one purpose: To play music in your car. No smartphone necessary.
@arstechnica Every passing day I hate the automobile industry even more
@mausu @arstechnica as a car enthusiast myself, this industry is just rotten to the core lemme tell ya.
