Privacy Badger 2023.10.31 has been released for all supported browsers.

The new version blocks embedded Tweets by default, replacing them with click-to-activate placeholders.

This opt-in approach to loading external but potentially desirable widgets protects privacy while giving you control over when the widgets get to load.

To install Privacy Badger, visit https://privacybadger.org/.

I didn't see any click-to-activate placeholders. 👀

@TimMaddog There is a Tweet embedded in the following article. If you have the latest Privacy Badger, you should see a Privacy Badger placeholder instead of the Tweet.

Microsoft hid the Xbox Series S in plain sight and nobody noticed

Microsoft hid its unannounced Xbox Series S console in a series of videos back in July. Xbox chief Phil Spencer appeared with the console hiding on his shelves, months before its official announcement.

It showed up on that site, but yesterday on comicsands.com, IIRC, embedded Tweets were invisible.
@TimMaddog Yeah, widget replacement is not perfect and will fail to work on some sites. We will keep making it work better though. You can help by reporting problems using the Report Broken Site button in Privacy Badger’s popup. To open the popup, click on PB’s icon in your browser toolbar.
@TimMaddog OK, Tweet replacement should start working on that website after your Privacy Badger updates to 2023.12.1.
