Spectrum just sold me on Google Fiber (now available in my area) by not even entertaining the thought of competitive pricing or speed.
@pauldecarli oh boy - they trenched our street months ago but the website still says it’s not available for my address. did that change for y’all recently?
@grt I got my availability email this week. I haven’t contacted G yet to confirm but thought I’d give Spectrum a chance to keep my business.
@pauldecarli I’ll just keep waiting patiently, then. I got tired of Spectrum promising me that symmetrical gigabit is just around the corner, so I switched to T-Mobile 5G months ago. it hasn’t been much better, but it’s certainly cheaper!
@grt If you don’t mind me asking, what are you paying? I’m currently getting 585 Mb down (22 up) for $104 from Spectrum
@pauldecarli $55 even for around 100-110 down, 50-60 up. it can vary
@pauldecarli actually, strike that, I ran that over Wi-Fi. I just ran a speed test directly on my router and got 360 down, 70 up
@grt Decent. I need the fast down (for work) and would love the synchronous up.
@pauldecarli (leaning into the mic) “it’s for my work”

@grt I’m brainstorming things I can do with 1Gb upload for less $.

Thanks Spectrum!

@pauldecarli let me know if you figure it out!
@grt So it turns out Google fiber isn't available at my house yet. I called them and they apologized for sending an email that is incorrect. I guess I'll just wait some more.
@grt and now I’ve got another email asking why I haven’t signed up yet. My next-door neighbor got his hooked up this week so I’m figuring I can probably get it soon.
@pauldecarli nice! I just now saw a Gfiber truck slowly driving down our street 👀
