Tonight we tear this baby apart.

Watch this thread.

Okay lets do this!

How to get hub motors off a hoverboard:

First we unscrew each of these screws.

Model info:

Here's what it looks like with the bottom panel removed.

Next we want to disconnect everything, & remove the battery and controller board so we can get at the hub motor.

This budget hoverboard is a plastic chassis rather than metal.

I would NOT recommend repurposing this chassis for a heavy robot.

Luckily for me I have a metal chassis on my bot base already and this hub motor should fasten fine.

Left motor off.

Now rinse & repeat on right.

Old (suspect burnt-out motors removed from my bot base.
New motors fastened!
Okay now to refer back to the wiring diagram and get these wired up.

All wired up?

Gonna try this now, but I guarantee I wired something wrong here so give me a bit.

We have spinnage!

(And yes I did wire it wrong at first)

Both wheels with PID at 10 rpm!
Now changing speed by 50rpm every 3 sec!

I think that's a rap for tonight.

Next week: teleoperation!
