My hat goes off to those Swedish dockworkers refusing to unload Teslas until they negotiate with their local employees.

Incredible solidarity.

(For some reason it’s always my untagged posts that go wide lmao, so here a link: https://www.wired.com/story/tesla-sweden-strike/ )

Swedish Ports Threaten to Block Teslas From Entering the Country

Tesla is failing to play by Swedish labor rules, unions claim. Now a strike that started with mechanics is beginning to spread.

WIRED

As far as I understand things from a very brief look… it appears Tesla essentially hires whole car carriers for its shipments.

Those massive ships sitting in port, crewed, powered, and not yet unloaded are going to get incredibly expensive fast.

It’d be hard to put the liability on the shipper here. It’s all Tesla.

They could take them across the Oresund to Denmark, I guess, and drive them over, but that’s not free either, or guaranteed to be free of labour disruption.

Worth keeping in mind that Tesla’s effective margin (RoA) is only 8.03%.

Anything that increases the delivery cost beyond that turns a sale into a loss.
