@chrisisgr8 I feel seen. In perhaps the most uncomfortable way possible, but seen nonetheless.

@chrisisgr8 You ended up on my Explore feed for the first time in recent memory 😂

this hits close to home 😭

@chrisisgr8 Never has a lolsob seemed so appropriate.
@chrisisgr8 If the terves hear that many trans people are Formerly Gifted Children, they'll institute a campaign of specifically prohibiting gifted children from transitioning, under the theory that "They're not really trans, they're just gifted, and that's where the dysphoria comes from."

@riley @chrisisgr8 Right wing conspiracy theorists never do well at convincing smart people, on average, so they look for ways to dismiss and torture them.

So they're always like, "Damn those fully vaxxed sheeple who are "woke" enough to think it's fine to be trans!"

Um, "Baaa?"

@JohannasGarden It's the age-old fear of witches. Fear of people who might be able to use mysterious powers that the Authoritarian Leader can't control. Such as the power of having read interesting books to ward off boredom. Very dangerous! (Mainly to the Authoritarian Leader.)

@chrisisgr8

@chrisisgr8 By way of exposition, before the "Twice Exceptional" movement, a lot of authoritative-sounding powerful people liked to argue that if a kid has been deemed gifted, that excludes further ADHD or ASV diagnoses. Even now, such stupid ideas are very common. Because they build on the notion of a single-axis scale of "functioning level", they're among the several good reasons for eschewing the "high functioning" and "low functioning" labels that used to be given out with autism diagnoses.
@chrisisgr8
Not included: Unfillable void of parents pushing for vicarious accolades.
@chrisisgr8 I never would have guessed that "all my insecurities laid bare" was on the menu today. Ouch.
@chrisisgr8 That was me, too. [sad smile]
I actually lived up to my parents' career expectations: university, a secure and (somewhat) well-paying job.
But I could not, cannot, and never will, live up to my own expectations: I put them too high, even when I do an effort to lower them as much as I'm able.
@chrisisgr8 Ow. Right in the temporal lobes.
@chrisisgr8 That one actually hunts.
@chrisisgr8
This hits home...and it hurts. Ouch!
@chrisisgr8
Right in front of my salad??
@chrisisgr8 Ok, so, is this everyone on this service, or what? 🤷🏻‍♂️😂
@chrisisgr8 that’s some stone-cold stuff, right there.
@chrisisgr8 But... it's missing the crippling depression. 🥴
@chrisisgr8 Finally, a cosplay of me!
