@glasspusher
About tik tok?
Yep.
It started as the 'dance trend' app but with the crash of Xitter, it is soooo much more than that.
There are different pockets and each pocket has a reach that is suuuper interesting.
@temporal_spider
It's all about your preferences/interests.
I started by searching for excel hacks, really. (That was legit the only reason I got on TT. Excel.) Then my FYP was sending me random stuff - gradually, it learned what I was engaging with: middle aged thirst traps, feminist content, left-politics, racial justice, WOC, fashion, dogs, dudes in forests, dudes cooking in forests, more thirst traps.
Once in a while the FYP will send me random things sort of like it's testing me. But I ignore it and engage only with the stuff I like: Menopause+politics+thirst traps+cooking+dogs+fashion criticism+art+fat people
