There are no civilians.
@chrisschmitz You can't expect everyone to be able to escape a crowded city in 3 weeks, especially when a lot of them were coerced by Hamas to stay and a lot of others were (rightfully) skeptical of their ability to fulfill needs when they left, especially since humanitarian aid has been so scarce and looting has taken place just to secure it.
To simplify the decision on one's morality and affiliation to "They're part of Hamas, kill em" based simply on where they are is stupid
There is no hard line in this conflict, as palestinian "civilians" change their role to what they pleases.
If they are armed, near unarmed israeli civilians, they are clearly with hamas, if idf is approaching, they are "civilians"
You are just god damn naive, or a terrorist supporter.
@chrisschmitz You're taking a pretty hard line by saying they don't exist. To say everyone still in North Gaza is Hamas-affiliated is to sentence thousands of innocents to death on flimsy charges. To justify indiscriminate bombing in lieu of a ground invasion on that basis is outrageous.
The IDF has men who signed themselves up to die for their country, and, unlike Harris of '45, they have the ability to invade from the ground. Instead they sacrifice Civilians to that end.
Hamas can release the hostages.
Hamas can surrender.
They can topple Hamas.
Hamas must be destroyed, any attempt to attribute any civilian losses to anyone but Hamas is bullshit.
@chrisschmitz @Zimme83 Not necessarily. Military necessity has to outweigh harm to civilians for an action like bombing a hospital to be deemed legal (and alternative approaches should be taken into account when defining military necessity).
The airpower-only operations plan is simply convenient, not necessary. An alternative approach to destroying Hamas headquarters could easily have been taken, like an airborne raid.
