I am beginning to believe that those calling themselves conservative, especially the "anti-woke", are just really afraid.
Their biggest fear seems to be feeling bad.
They will go to great lengths, even at others' expense, to avoid feeling bad.
They like to be angry because they think it hides fear.
They don't want to admit mistakes in the past might require fixing, because they might feel bad about the mistakes or afraid they might have to pay in some form for those mistakes.
One side is afraid to feel bad and problems that make them feel bad should be ignored & the other trying to force everyone to feel bad all the time about everything and that everyone should only display it in their prescribed manner.
I think that is probably the true political scale.
I'm on the, let's look at the historical details and empirical evidence & come up with nuanced answers that harness new thinking to solve or improve old problems and systems, part of that scale
@overxited watching Sherwood on ABC, ostensibly a crime thriller about some killings, but in reality it probes deeply the hurt and guilt of Thatcher's war on miners and it makes some great commentary around your points.
