November 2023 - Letter to HICPAC Members - WHN

The Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee (HICPAC) is the body that advises the CDC on infection control in healthcare. HICPAC is currently discussing drafts on infection control policies. Here is our letter to tell HICPAC not to weaken protections.   To CDC Director … Continued

WHN

The science is clear, and public awareness of the lack of airborne infection control in healthcare is growing.

Our letter will be sent to HICPAC members, as well as shared with press outlets.

We cannot sit back and watch as HICPAC continues to ignore the unchecked spread of COVID in healthcare facilities, harming vulnerable patients, worsening the health of frontline healthcare workers and exacerbating staff shortages.

Ignoring COVID is not a plan for controlling infections in healthcare.

Recommending droplet protections is not a plan for controlling an airborne virus transmitted by aerosols.

WHN members and our allies say loud and clear: protect patients and HCWs now!

If you haven’t yet, please mark your calendars for Nov 2-3, when HICPAC will next meet.

You can submit written comment between November 1 and November 6 at midnight ET, and we have instructions to help you do so here:
