Guns #FUBAR again. As a Vermonter I’m extraordinarily taken aback, there are family and friends near #Lewiston & Bates College. My heart breaks 💔 for the families, the victims themselves and the shock-ridden state of Maine.

Per #cnn The rampage in #Maine is the deadliest US mass #shooting since the Uvalde school #massacre. It adds to a grim docket of 565 such incidents, where four or more people are shot excluding the shooter, across the country this year, according to the #GunViolenceArchive.
565th incident!?!!! 👀 And it’s merely October. Of mass #shootings of four or more #civilians including schoolchildren and Seniors??! We simply cannot allow this #militaryweaponry to remain in the hands of aggro domestic terrorists and MAGA Militias. This wasn’t even the less populated and gun enthusiastic northern #Maine, either. #Lewiston is among my favorite old New England college towns and it’s unimaginable that 18 are dead and dozens injured by an armed #MAGA sociopath on a Trump bender.
@SherBeareth it's time to repeal Amendment 2

@waltirv Unfortunately that’s a pipe dream post Trump, much as I hate saying so. I’m in a rural state with responsible hunting but crime related/domestic shootings are on the rise - we are a lesser-known border state; Quebec and points nearby it in Canada are mere afternoon drives away - and we experience drug trafficking and Federal policing or criminal consequences therein every week in the local media.

I’m still wrapping my head around Lewiston being the latest mass massacre site. 😢

@SherBeareth I'm so livid that I could scream
@waltirv Yes! And/or throw things in a frustration explosion. We’re aware of plenty of militias in the region, but an all out AK massacre is beyond imagination. My parents-in-law live an hour south, it’s devastating the locals.

@SherBeareth

Why do people conflate the existence (or repeal) of the 2nd amendment with the right to hunt? Explain why you need the 2nd amendment to protect your rights to hunt.

@HomerHarlequin There are none technically as far as I understand—it just makes me want to highlight most legal hunting as safe and necessary to native animal populations - I happen to live in Vermont. Then there’s the bloody NRA in it for the money and the political leverage, they de facto obfuscate on an Olympic level.
@HomerHarlequin The Second Amendment is more about “people hunting”.
