Watch this (civic) space. #GlasgowCity Council are to submit a planning application for a George Square makeover. Interestingly, the illustrative images suggest a possible removal of the artistically dull statues of long dead men.

@geomannie statues can lend a bit of interest and perspective to otherwise monotonous environments. Perhaps consideration could be given to taking some of them down to, for example, the paved area outside the Riverside Museum. Some would also be appropriate in Govan, given its industrial history.
 Victoria and Albert are commanding pieces and should be relocated with great care. Perhaps outside the Burrell?

Perhaps a home could be found for the somewhat soulless war memorial as well?

@peterbrown I'm not sure that inflicting these dull historical relics on other parts of the city is the best way to go. I have never felt that my day was brightened by seeing any of them. How about melting these statues down and recasting them as art works relevant to the modern day? #controversial #iconoclasm #Glasgow

@geomannie I count 12 statues in the overhead picture - the two horses seem to have moved to the pedestrianised Frederick street, 8 around the cenotaph, and 2 more on the queen street end. Which is... 1 more statue than there is now, I think? Maybe adding a second woman?
@geomannie Plans to re-locate the pigeons? 😃
