Today, a letter arrived confirming my car loan payoff after 3 years. I'm considering replacing it, but for the first time ever, I'm thinking "Nah, you're grand." It's my newest car (bought at 3, now 6) and the most expensive. Despite unexpected repairs last year, nothing suits my needs better. As a car enthusiast and window shopper, I wonder if it's the market or me?

@cianhan The car we drive the most was bought new. A 2006 Mercedes-Benz W203 C280 3L 7A. It is over 17.

I recently replaced the front shocks for the first time. When I was picking it up, one of the mechanics commented on it. I said it drove great. He replied that the boss test drove it after the repair, and commented that it drove like a brand new car.

I concur.

@cianhan Any equivalent replacement would cost approximately $1,000 per month for five years. Even a pre-owned example might cost $600 per month X 60.

That’s $7,000 to $12,000 per year for five years! 😳

It is worth it to me to keep this car purring like a happy kitten with expert maintenance and timely repairs.

I rent cars from time to time, and there are still brand new cars costing $50K that don’t have all the features or capabilities of this one.
