I was doing some #watercolor practice today and realized I hate my paints. I got a solid paint set and they're so hard to get loaded on the brush. I'm going to head to the art store and get some tube pigments. I have good quality paper and brushes, and think this will help make it more enjoyable.

Now I just need to figure out what pigments to buy...

@MountainGoat I use the Windsor&Newton Cotman tubes - have had them for over a decade, and they're nice and luminous.
@martiAn you and @Jo_T both rec'd them so I picked up a starter kit. It didn't include a nice red, only a rose, but I had a different brand buried in a box and tried that (which I didn't like) but I'll be going back to the art store this evening to pick up a couple other colors. So far I love how they are working. #watercolor #watercolour #WindsorAndNewton
@MountainGoat when I started painting 10 years ago, my teacher asked me to get three tubes, cad red, cad yellow and French ultramarine... I went a few weeks without anything else... since this, I got many tubes, some I used once , some I adopted as fav like the wonderful Hansa Yellow from D Smith. Do not worry about red, from experience, they rarely give good results, they often turn muted, they lack the punch of the fresh application once dry... You'll do just fine with your rose!
@MountainGoat @Jo_T oh great, glad to hear you like them! Enjoy!
