Christ! Please don’t try and explain something if you really don’t know what it is.

Observe: the person who doesn’t really properly visualise…anything… trying to explain sidebands.

And yes I know my answer is unhelpful. But I don’t have time to draw the bow tie diagrams and plot the axes properly.
Now present, when challenged, a plot with an important difference BUT somehow, almost no less unintuitive in terms of displaying what matters
And finally stir in a further dash of confusion.
By all means though, enlighten me as to what the Y axis on a graph is, because I didn’t already know.
@bloor that sound a lot like “find y”. And “here it is, top left”.
@bloor reminded me of this from StarTrek Voyager.
@bloor interesting way to present a Fourier transform but hey!
@bloor I think I'm happy with my decision to stop arguing with cretins on the Internet.

@mw1cgg However it is worth making innocent bystanders aware that any particular piece of nonsense is at least not universally accepted. But, after that, yes.

@bloor

@bloor that is quite, quite unpleasant. What exactly are they trying to show with this?
@bloor What the actual fuck?
@bloor I mean I can see why they've thought that but that's so wrong it's gone past absurd.
@mw1cgg I think a good degree of joining the dots has resulted in the village post office instead resembling a walrus.
@bloor
Time and frequency domain - there's a little difference, yes.
@bloor
If the emission is directed northward, then it's LSB and RSB...
@bloor Someone has their domains in a twist.
@bloor That makes my brain hurt.
@geoffl @bloor I'm not even a radio guy and I know that is wrong. The diagram is supposed to look like a pair of breasts with the green breast on the right and the blue breast on the left and the red line in the middle. It's about the frequency domain, not the time domain.
@bloor ooh, that’s interesting.
