@AkkalonAS I think the definition of "space opera" has moved a bit, which is unfortunate because what do we now call what we used to call space opera?
According to a nice little essay I read years ago, it requires:
* Immense vistas; bright colours
* A sense of seeing a tiny bit of a giant complex universe
* Giant, epic themes. Galactic scope.
* Antiheroes, or at least heroes who have not much choice
So: Dune. The first few Star Wars.
