My Book of Faces reminded me that, a year ago, the Janeway Collective did a Thing!

(We'd unveiled the #CaptainJanewayStatue in October of 2020, but for obvious reasons, Kate Mulgrew couldn't make it in person. Last year, we were finally able to arrange that visit for her!)

I have no idea what we're giggling about in this photo, but the day was full of joy and excitement, so it could have been anything...

If you're interested in joining in the fun, the Janeway Collective is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to not only promote the ideals of Star Trek, but to promote and encourage STEM education and activities for all!

We're world-wide, though our monthly board meetings (to which members are welcome) are usually scheduled for late evening in the eastern time zone.

The Collective

For many years, Star Trek fans in Bloomington, Indiana casually discussed, plotted, and joked about creating a monument to its future Starfleet captain, similar to the one for Captain Kirk in Riverside, Iowa. In 2019, unbeknownst to one another, three separate groups began planning to make the fantasy a reality. They eventually met and merged together, becoming the Janeway Collective.

The Janeway Collective

I had to go to Bloomington for work, today, coincidentally. So, of course, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to take a selfie with my girl!
