Amazon goes password-free on iOS and the web with passkey

The password is one step closer to becoming a thing of the past now that Amazon has adopted passkey technology....

@9to5Mac This is great to see, but shouldn't we have the option to disable the password once we create a passkey? It seems that leaving the option to login with a password eliminates most of the advantages of using Passkeys.
@Corysullivan @9to5Mac If you take into account the use of passkeys in the same manner as Face ID, your question will be answered. Even with Face ID enabled, you still have the option to authenticate using PIN codes, and it is not possible to eliminate the need for PIN codes when Face ID is enabled.
@tikhonov_a @9to5Mac I'm afraid I have to disagree with the analogy as PassKeys replace, not supplement passwords. https://support.apple.com/en-us/102195
About the security of passkeys - Apple Support

Passkeys are a replacement for passwords. They are faster to sign in with, easier to use, and much more secure.
