AWanderingSorcererFor this week's #SeiyuuSaturday, we're looking at #HisakoKanemoto (b. 1987), who began voice acting in 2009.
The first role we'll be looking at is from 2015, where Kanemoto was the titular lead in #JunketsuNoMaria. A long-lived witch in the middle of the Hundred Years War, Maria tried her best to maintain life and peace even as multiple forces pushed against her. Often possessing a neurotic energy, Kanemoto still showcases a conflicted yet powerful woman who becomes a standard bearer for her way of life.
Jumping to 2017, Kanemoto voiced a quite different character in #recreators as the character designer Marine. Finding herself confronting a character she designed, along with other fictional characters in our world, Marine kept a positive take on things even in the darkest moments, with Kanemoto's acting providing levity and fun in her every scene.
In 2019, Kanemoto got to play everyone's kinda-toxic friend in #yorimoi as Megumi. While initially just the friend Kimari has as moral support, Megumi turns out to have more selfish motivations. While not given too much screentime, Kanemoto makes the most of it, particularly in her spotlight episode.
Jumping to 2022, Kanemoto portrayed a very... enclosed character as the Steel Princess Kyouko in #loveafterworlddomination. A member of the evil organization Gekko, Kyouko proved to be a formidable combatant on the battlefield but a shut-in who's ignorant of her own beauty. Once again, even with limited screentime, Kanemoto has fun with this character.
Earlier this year, Kanemoto played an... interesting folk in Nio, one of the revengers in #revenger. A former circus performance, Nio found a new life in bringing retribution to the powerful and corrupt of 19th century Japan, enjoying their bloodlust all the while. Kanemoto's voice is playful, chilling, remorseless, and human all at once, a great performance.
Finally, in the same season but complete opposite direction, Kanemoto voiced Shihoko, the main character's mother in #TheAngelNextDoorSpoilsMeRotten. A playful mother who always supported her biological and basically adopted child, Kanemoto was able to show off the warmth of a good mom and make us realize the cruelty of age.
